Job Summary
The Visual Communications Specialist advances Normandale Community College’s marketing, enrollment, and reputation goals by developing, coordinating, and disseminating institutional information in a clear, accessible, and purposeful manner. The role translates complex institutional programs into clear, accurate, and engaging public-facing information across print, digital, and multimedia platforms; advises on communication approaches and accessibility; collaborates with leadership and subject-matter experts to ensure cohesive messaging and effective communication to diverse audiences; supports equity in educational outcomes and a culturally responsive service culture; coordinates projects and resources to enhance public understanding and engagement with the college’s mission and priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional-level experience in communications, marketing, graphic design, visual communications, or a closely related field
- Education in a related field may substitute for required experience: Associate’s degree = 6 months, Bachelor’s degree = 1 year, Master’s degree = 18 months
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and visual composition
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure
- Experience producing and coordinating print and digital materials such as posters, flyers, postcards, and signage
- Proven communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse campus partners
