Job Summary
Configure, operate, and monitor the Space-to-Ground Link Terminal (SGLT) and Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) resources to communicate with mission spacecraft and control centers. Monitor TDRS telemetry, transmit commands as required, and quickly resolve system anomalies during critical or emergency situations. Generate and maintain pertinent documentation while implementing routine and contingency procedures with limited supervision. Provide on-the-job training to other controllers and assimilate data to extend operational capabilities. This role requires rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime, with physical demands including lifting up to 20 lbs. and handling high levels of stress. Candidates must obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance and join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union.
Required Qualifications
- AS degree or 2 years technical training plus 2 years of related experience
- High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of related experience
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime, on a rotational basis
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance
- Must be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship
- Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite
- Must be able to pass physical examinations consistent with the Job Classification
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Visual, hearing, and speaking acuity is required
- Ability to handle continued high levels of stress
- You acknowledge this position will be union and you will be required to join
- Membership of the union is required
