Job Summary
Dispatch public safety personnel and respond to both 911 and non-emergency calls. Maintain communications with callers, assess urgency, and coordinate with police, fire, and other agencies. Operate CAD to log calls, verify locations, manage unit assignments, and ensure accuracy of incident records. Monitor radio frequencies, relay instructions, and dispatch appropriate personnel. Provide on-the-job training to Communications Officer I and serve as Team Lead in the Supervisor’s absence. Maintain logs and documentation, and participate in ongoing training to sustain state regulations and certifications; ability to work flexible shifts including holidays and weekends. Must hold a High School diploma or GED and be capable of handling high-stress, life-threatening situations with professional communication and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED equivalent
- completion of minimum of two-years college work in communications or related technology subjects or honorable military dispatch service
- 2-4 years dispatch service
