Job Summary
Develop and oversee a comprehensive communications strategy that advances the organization's mission, visibility, and impact. Advise executives on messaging, create press releases and talking points, and respond to media inquiries while cultivating relationships with local, national, and international partners. Monitor emerging issues, lead crisis communications responses, and coach subject matter experts for media interactions. Review website and social media content for consistency, analyze campaign performance, and provide strategic guidance on risk mitigation. Collaborate closely with executive leadership, all departments, and external stakeholders to strengthen public trust and position the organization as a national leader.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
- Master's degree
- Minimum of five years of professional experience serving as a practitioner and leading teams in communications, public relations, public affairs, or a related field
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in a senior leadership role
- Experience developing marketing materials
- Expertise in crisis communications and issues management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license
- Excellent driving record

- Experience in a nonprofit, public-sector, or mission-driven organization
- Experience working with sensitive or complex subject matter
- Previous experience supporting executive leadership or boards
- Experience managing communications teams and cross-functional initiatives
- Professional Certification (APR, CMP, or SCMP)
