Job Summary
Develop and coordinate all external and internal communications, including website content, social media, newsletters, and public notices. Serve as the primary liaison with the external PR firm to manage timelines, route materials for review, and maintain message consistency. Support community engagement by assisting with events, stakeholder briefings, and outreach, while gathering accurate messaging from internal teams and subject matter experts. Track campaign performance, monitor media coverage, and prepare detailed reports to inform future strategies. Assist in developing crisis communication strategies and managing timely responses to emerging issues.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Communication, Public Affairs, Marketing, or a related field; or equivalent work-related experience in lieu of degree
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or related discipline
- Experience within a governmental capacity or for a utility
- Experience with Canva
- Experience with email communications
- Valid Class C Driver's License
- Must obtain Texas Class C driver's license within 30 days of hire
- Must pass a drug test
- Must pass a criminal history background check
- Must pass a social security number verification check
- Must be available for some evening or weekend work
- Must be willing to travel for professional development opportunities or local community engagement activities
- Must be willing to occasionally visit field sites
- Must be willing to attend community events which may be held outdoors or at various locations
Desired Qualifications
- Four years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or related discipline
- Experience within a governmental capacity or for a utility (preferred)
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud
- Experience with Google Analytics
- Experience with digital marketing techniques
- Experience with the latest communication tools and software
- Experience with public relations trends and best practices
