Job Summary

Media Relations Coordinator for homeland security-focused work with ICF Next. The role involves supporting federal press officers, developing media engagement strategies for campaigns and events, identifying target outlets and reporters, outlining pitches, and producing monitoring reports to assess reach and impact. Responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of releases, press kits, facts sheets, Q&A responses, developing local or targeted media lists, and providing senior-level counsel to client leadership and the project team. Strong candidates will have experience with planning and executing media relations campaigns, writing communications materials for internal and external audiences, and a public affairs or media relations background in national security, with a preference for government communications operations experience. Basic qualifications include a BS/BA in Marketing, PR, Journalism, or related field and at least three years of relevant experience; preferred qualifications include excellent written communication, strong research/organizational abilities, and prior PR/journalism/government agency experience. Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Marketing, PR, Journalism, or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience: Understanding trends, best practices in connecting with busy journalists and turning pitches into stories; working with client and project team members; knowledge of public relations and integrated media; and/or generating press attention among national security and cybersecurity reporters
  • Ability to secure a public trust security clearance

  • PR agency, journalism, corporate or government agency experience preferred
