Communications Coordinator

Job Summary
Design, write, and implement communications for brands, including feature stories, articles, blogs, copywriting, and press releases. Support communications strategy by consulting with internal teams on concepting, building repeatable processes, and developing audience insights to establish content themes. Research, interview subject matter experts, and deliver engaging long-form content while optimizing for SEO, AEO, and Google's EEAT. Develop press releases, media kits, and advisories to foster media relationships and support live events. Create and review analytics reports to measure campaign effectiveness and track media mentions. Collaborate on social media curation, quarterly reporting, and digital asset management. Represent the organization at community events and conferences, which may occur outside typical business hours.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related discipline (marketing, journalism/public relations or communications) or equivalent experience
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in communications
- Strong English language verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated through error-free writing abilities
- Experience writing original communications, long-form content, stories, blogs, articles and press releases
- Ability to conceptualize easily, work within brand guidelines and bring out the tone of a brand
- Knowledge of trends and motivated to keep up with best practices and changes in marketing used to increase awareness, generate leads and increase client base
- Ability to learn quickly, and independently exercise good judgement
- Effective project management skills and ability to contribute and collaborate as part of a team
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Canva, and other tools/apps such as CRM system
- Self-starter, able to work both independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively with cross-functional groups to achieve desired outcomes
- Customer service oriented, strong attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple demands and deadlines through effective time management and organizational skills
- 5 days per week; 37.5 hours per week, regular daytime business hours are between 9 am EST to 5 pm EST
- Some localized travel required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience liaising with news media
- Previous experience with photography, videography and/or Adobe Creative Suite and graphic design
- Familiarity with the life science or transportation sectors
- Marketing or Communication agency experience
