Communications 911 Dispatcher

Job Summary
Process both emergency and non-emergency calls from the public and external agencies using the CAD system to dispatch appropriate units; monitor unit status pre- and post-dispatch; follow Priority Dispatch System to determine location and emergency nature; provide emergency medical and safety instructions during high-risk situations until field units arrive; maintain a positive customer service attitude with the public and agencies; demonstrate understanding, compassion, and empathy; relay vital information to responding units and notify appropriate agencies; comply with IAED Code of Ethics; support flexible shift coverage; perform related duties as needed; requires at least a high school diploma or GED, with preferred EMD/EFD certifications and CPR certification; strong communication, multitasking, and ability to work under pressure.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum two years emergency fire and medical dispatch experience preferred
- Current EMD and EFD certifications preferred
- Current AHA Provider CPR certification or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of emergency dispatch principles and FCC radio usage
- Ability to type minimum 40 wpm
- Ability to work 24-hour shifts, overtime, and holidays
