Job Summary
Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize SEPTA communications systems across radios, dispatch and data networks for mission-critical transit operations. Diagnose, repair, and configure equipment including radios, base stations, CCTV, telephony, fiber networks, and related field equipment; install and configure network infrastructure and support system upgrades. Provide technical guidance to other technicians, perform detailed testing and calibration, and contribute to system design and performance optimization. Maintain system documentation, generate reports, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues ensuring reliable operations. Requires hands-on experience with RF/communications equipment, ability to read schematics, and a PA driver’s license; salary starts at $40.97/hour with a scheduled raise to $45.52 after six months.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical prints
- Hands-on experience inspecting, testing, and repairing communications equipment and data systems
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license (Class 1 or equivalent)
- Ability to diagnose, repair, test, and maintain a wide range of communications systems and equipment
- Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, reports, records, and documentation requirements
