Job Summary
Commodity Director for Power Conditioning Systems leads global sourcing strategy, supplier management, and cost optimization for power electronics components and modules. Partners with engineering, manufacturing, and business leadership to ensure resilient, cost-effective supply chains; develops long-term commodity roadmaps; manages supplier relationships and performance; drives cost reduction via value engineering and should-cost modeling; mitigates supply risks and ensures regulatory/ESG compliance; collaborates with R&D on component selection and supplier co-development to influence design-for-cost and manufacturability; tracks KPIs such as cost savings, supplier performance, and supply continuity; requires senior leadership experience, deep power electronics knowledge, and strong negotiation and cross-functional leadership capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Electronics, or related field)
- 20-25+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, Commodity management with strong exposure to power electronics/electricals
- Proven experience negotiating global, high-value supplier contracts and Contract Manufacturer management
- Experience in industries such as industrial, renewable energy, or electronics manufacturing
- Strategic Sourcing Expertise – ability to develop and execute long-term commodity strategies
- Technical Acumen – strong understanding of power electronics and component-level design tradeoffs
- Negotiation & Influencing Skills – executive presence with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Analytical Thinking – cost modeling, market analysis, and risk assessment
- Leadership – ability to lead global, cross-functional teams
- Communication – clear articulation of strategy and decisions to senior leadership
