Job Summary
Commodity Buyer responsible for strategic and operational purchasing of automotive commodities (electrical and mechanical components and systems), leading supplier sourcing, RFQ management, contract negotiations, and cost-reduction initiatives. Collaborates with Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Manufacturing, and Materials to ensure supply continuity, track supplier performance (quality, delivery, responsiveness), manage end-to-end purchasing processes, monitor forecasts with Materials Planning, and support continuous improvement to reduce total cost. Requires experience in automotive/oem/aerospace sectors, proficiency with ERP/SAP, strong communication, and ability to drive cross-functional initiatives. Salary range $47,424-$87,000 with a Bachelor’s degree preferred and 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or Engineering is preferred
- 3-5 years experience in purchasing or sourcing within automotive, transportation or aerospace industries
- experience in managing forecasts, material planning, purchase orders, cost down initiatives
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ERP software experience, SAP preferred
- ability to influence cross-functional teams and suppliers
- experience with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
- understanding of supplier development, new program launches, and production ramp-ups
- knowledge of purchasing procedures and EDI compliance
- ability to analyze market trends and negotiate with suppliers
