Job Summary
Conduct one-on-one and small group academic coaching for elementary through high school students, developing literacy and math skills while implementing behavior management systems. Monitor individual student progress by collaborating with teachers to collect, record, and analyze data within the City Year student data system. Create and maintain an engaging, safe classroom space alongside partner educators while supporting whole school initiatives such as extended day programming, academic enrichment, and student club leadership. Lead events recognizing student growth in attendance and behavior. Requires U.S. citizenship or legal permanent resident status, age 17-25 by July 2025, and completion of a background check. Full-time paid position with bi-weekly living stipend, health benefits, and AmeriCorps education award eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
- Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
- Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
- Agree to and complete a background check
- Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025
