Job Summary
Coach and mentor elementary, middle, and high school students to earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. Work 1:1 and in small groups to develop literacy and math skills, create behavior management systems, and support interpersonal growth. Collaborate with teachers to monitor individual progress, analyze data, and facilitate reviews. Plan and monitor whole class instruction, breakout spaces, and extended day programming including academic enrichment, homework support, and student clubs. Create engaging, safe classroom spaces and co-lead events recognizing student achievement. Participate in a 2-4 week training program before the school year begins.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
- Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
- Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
- Agree to and complete a background check
- Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025
