Job Summary
Coach and mentor elementary, middle, and high school students to earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. Plan and monitor individual student progress while collaborating with teachers on whole-class instruction, breakout spaces, and in-class assistance. Work 1:1 and in small groups to develop literacy and math skills, create behavior management systems, and foster interpersonal growth through reflection and repetition. Support whole-school initiatives by conducting extended day and virtual programming for academic enrichment, homework support, and leadership development. Create engaging classroom spaces and co-lead events recognizing student achievement. Receive a bi-weekly living stipend, health insurance, and access to therapy resources. Begin by July/August 2025 after completing 2-4 weeks of training.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
- Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
- Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
- Agree to and complete a background check
- Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025
