Job Summary
Conduct academic coaching and mentorship for elementary, middle, and high school students by working one-on-one and in small groups to develop literacy and math skills. Create and implement behavior management systems while collaborating with teachers to monitor individual student progress through City Year's data system. Support whole school initiatives by leading extended day programming, academic enrichment, and student clubs before, during, and after school hours. Develop interpersonal skills using proven strategies of learning, practicing, reflection, and repetition to ensure students earn academic success and improve attendance.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
- Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
- Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
- Agree to and complete a background check
- Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025
