Job Summary
Commissioning Technician/Engineer at RMF Engineering oversees, investigates, challenges and tests mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) projects. Supports commissioning activities for HVAC, electrical, plumbing and controls systems on new construction and existing buildings. Performs field observations, witness testing, reviews construction documents and test procedures, documents deficiencies, tracks issue resolution, coordinates with contractors and facility operators, and participates in troubleshooting building systems and controls integration. Travel to project sites throughout NC and occasionally surrounding states; typical week is 50% office and 50% client site with limited overnight travel. Requires associate degree (tech field) or bachelor's degree (mechanical/electrical); 1-3 years (tech) or 3-8 years (engineer) experience; strong communication and organizational skills; valid driver’s license. FE certification preferred; PE track encouraged. Building automation experience and test and balancing familiarity are a plus. Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in engineering technology, HVAC, or related technical field experience
- 1-3 years of experience in HVAC, controls, TAB, commissioning, facilities operation, or commercial/industrial construction
- Basic understanding of MEP systems
- Ability to read construction documents
- Valid driver’s license with ability to travel to project sites
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3-8 years of experience in commissioning, consulting engineering, controls, or facilities engineering
- FE certification preferred; PE track encouraged
- Experience with healthcare, laboratory, mission critical, higher education facilities and Central Utility Plant systems
