Commissioning Specialist

Job Summary
Commissioning Specialist performs advanced technical analysis and evaluation of electrical and mechanical systems in support of commissioning and retro-commissioning projects, and conducts related regulatory audits (NFPA/NEC). Responsibilities include interpreting system performance data and drawings, identifying deficiencies, determining root causes, and developing technically sound recommendations to optimize and ensure compliance. Collaborates with commissioning engineers, contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders to translate findings into clear, actionable conclusions for project outcomes. Field activities are part of an analytical process to gather and evaluate performance information. Requires advanced knowledge of electrical/mechanical building systems, engineering principles, strong analytical and communication skills, and ability to adapt methodologies to varied project conditions while supporting safe, efficient project execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university (electrical, mechanical, or related field) required; minimum of three years of related experience.
- Minimum required experience: 3 years
- Preferred certification: Industry-recognized certifications such as CxA, CCP, BCxP, CEM, NICET, NFPA-related certifications, or active trade licensure relevant to the supported discipline.
- Valid driver’s license required, with a clean driving record and no significant MVA points or violations.
Desired Qualifications
- CxA certification or active pursuit
- CCP, BCxP, CEM, NICET, NFPA-related certifications or active trade licensure
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically across the U.S.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or related field with 3+ years of commissioning experience
