Job Summary
Commissioning Project Manager for Data Center Construction leads the CXA commissioning program across multiple regional projects. Responsibilities include managing a team of commissioning engineers and CXA project managers, directing design reviews, quality control, staffing, and budget (P&L) while aligning with CXA standards and commissioning procedures. Primary duties involve client interfacing to define project requirements, developing work plans and deadlines, producing proposals and RFPs, facilitating client meetings, tracking progress against goals, and generating cost forecasts and comprehensive commissioning documentation. The role requires hands-on field experience with data center/critical facilities projects, knowledge of commissioning test procedures, integrated system testing (HVAC, electrical distribution, power quality analyzers, testing equipment), development of SOPs/MOPs, and a strong emphasis on quality assurance. The candidate will oversee the entire project lifecycle from design through startup, interface with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams, and ensure CXA standards are followed. Travel 25-50% is required. Qualifications include IEEE/ASHRAE procedures, a Bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering (plus), P.E. license/LEED accreditation (plus), PMP (plus), and prior data center experience; 5–10+ years in the field and demonstrated ability to manage CXA teams and complex commissioning projects.
Required Qualifications
- Hands on experience managing Data Centers / Critical Facilities Projects with an A/E, MEP or CxA company
- Previous Data Center / Mission Critical experience a must
- Experience 5 to 10+ years in Electrical / Mechanical Commissioning Field
- Experience with Level 1-5 commissioning
- Experience managing CXA teams and developing plans for large scale commissioning projects
- Experience with IEEE / ASHRAE procedures and protocols a plus
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering a plus
- P.E. license / LEED accreditation a plus
- PMP certification a plus
- Project management experience in the Consulting Engineering Industry
- Client relationship / Client Management / Client Engagement / Business Development - creating RFPs
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organizational, communication, and reporting skills
- Computer savvy / Microsoft Project, Excel
- Experience with field troubleshooting of equipment and data-center related systems
- Travel willingness 25-50%
