Commissioning Manager

Job Summary

Develop and manage commissioning contract exhibits, plans, schedules, and procedures for photovoltaic, energy storage, and high-voltage systems. Coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to validate system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety standards. Manage on-site testing and verification of electrical, mechanical, and communications systems, including inverters, transformers, SCADA, and substation point-to-point testing with utilities. Produce accurate test energy schedules, review installation quality against design specifications, and document commissioning results, punch lists, and final acceptance criteria. Maintain accurate records of activities, certifications, and as-built documentation while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Support training and handover processes for operations and maintenance teams. Travel up to 40% during commissioning with remote work available when not traveling.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering (electrical or mechanical), or related field, or equivalent years of commissioning experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in commissioning utility-scale renewable energy projects
  • OSHA 30
  • NETA III
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with Procore
  • Strong understanding of photovoltaic systems, energy storage systems, high-voltage systems, protection and control, SCADA and associated infrastructure
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals
  • Proficiency in commissioning software and data analysis tools
  • Familiarity with NERC, NEC, IEEE, and other relevant standards
  • Self-motivated to work through complex problems and competing priorities, including a high level of detail and organization
  • Excellent commissioning knowledge of all equipment used for Solar, BESS and HV
  • Longstanding relationship with vendor commissioning teams
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Up to 40% during commissioning
  • Remote work when not traveling
