Job Summary
Commissioning Engineer role based in WM's Biddeford, ME office focused on commissioning transmission and distribution substations. Responsibilities include reviewing specifications and drawings, scheduling installation and commissioning with subcontractors/customers, safety analysis and isolation procedures, outage planning, developing detailed test procedures and sign-off sheets, witnessing or directing critical tests (including DC Functional Trip Testing) prior to energization, coordinating field crews, identifying and resolving design errors, and turning over commissioned substations to Dispatch. Senior level expectations involve supporting multiple capital projects concurrently, mentoring engineers/technicians, and maintaining strong customer relationships with a focus on reliability and safety. The position emphasizes on-site commissioning activities with hybrid work arrangement and travel to client sites in Maine, New Hampshire, and Northern Massachusetts; AutoCAD, SCADA/RTU/DFR familiarity, and NICET certification or equivalent are advantageous. Required Qualifications
- Education Bachelor degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical or engineering technology) is preferred
- Associate Degree acceptable with proven field experience
- 1 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred in power systems, protection and control schemes, testing and commissioning of substations
- Experience in testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems
- Experience with relay secondary injection testing, PQ measurements
- Ability to lead crews and coordinate field activities
- Familiarity with SCADA, RTU, DFR systems; AutoCAD desired
- Travel availability; on-site work in Maine, New Hampshire, and Northern Massachusetts
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to extended hours during commissioning
- Bachelor level engineering education preferred; NICET certification or equivalent may be pursued
