Commissioning Engineer

Job Summary
Perform full pre-commissioning through to final commissioning of diesel generator systems, executing cold and hot testing including load bank tests, black start, and automatic transfer switch sequence validation. Diagnose electrical, mechanical, fuel, and control system issues to fine-tune governor and AVR parameters while validating integration with datacentre electrical distribution, UPS systems, and BMS/SCAD/PLC controls. Produce commissioning procedures, test scripts, and as-built documentation ensuring compliance with AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3010, ISO 8528, and local EPA requirements. Liaise with OEMs, electrical contractors, consultants, and customers to coordinate testing, resolve logistics, and provide operator training post-handover. Report weekly project status covering cost, payment milestones, and technical issues while maintaining accurate timesheets for engineering cost centres.
Required Qualifications
- Strong electrical or mechanical engineering background
- Experience with mission critical power systems
- Understanding of UPS-Generator interaction and harmonic considerations
- Ability to interpret schematics, SLDs, control logic, and OEM manuals
- Strong diagnostic skills for both control systems and mechanical systems
- High awareness of safety in high energy, live environments
- 'C' class driver's license
