Job Summary
This role conducts professional clemency investigations for the Florida Commission on Offender Review, providing information to the Board of Executive Clemency. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive confidential investigations for clemency (examples include firearm authority, pardon, commutation of sentence, and restoration of civil rights), verifying penalties and restitution, and determining eligibility for clemency consideration under the rules of executive clemency. The investigator may perform restoration of civil rights investigations without a hearing and will be subject to an extensive background check process (state and FBI fingerprint checks) and periodic re-screening. Strong knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, investigative and interviewing skills, independent work capability, written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage priorities under potentially stressful conditions are required. Preference may be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or four years equivalent work experience can substitute for the college education.
- Experience in Criminal Justice preferred.
- Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System.
- Skills in conducting investigations, interviews, and the operation of personal computers.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
