Job Summary
Commis Pastry responsible for the preparation of pastry menu items per provided recipes, works with Pastry Sous Chef or CDP Pastry, and participates in pastry production to ensure quality, consistency, and quantity targets. Duties include assisting with transportation of supplies to the pastry shop, maintaining cleanliness per USPH rules, and being available for early standby or late duties (midnight buffet). Requires completion of high school-equivalent education and at least two years of pastry experience; English proficiency and potential preference for additional languages. This is a contract, on-site shipboard role with London/UK locations and shipboard assignments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a Commis Chef in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship or convention banqueting service (shipboard experience preferred)
- Completion of high school or basic education equivalency required
- Completion of a minimum of one contract with a performance rating of proficient or above with prior culinary experience
- No disciplinary action on file for the last 12 months
- Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests
- Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures
- Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French or German is preferred
