Required Qualifications

• •Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety regulations, and as required by FMCSA regulation 49 CFR § 391.11.
• •Ability to adhere to all facets of safety policies and procedures, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated by OrePac's safety program.
• •Ability to perform all essential responsibilities of the job in a safe manner.

• •Ability to use road maps, GPS devices, and ELD systems.

• •Familiarity with navigation tools and route planning.
• •Ability to conduct interstate commerce.
• •High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• •Valid Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with current medical certificate and insurable driving record.
• •Double/triple trailer endorsement or the ability to obtain endorsement within the first month of employment (required only in states that permit pulling of double or triple trailers).
• •Must be able to lift/move/manipulate up to 60 pounds and team lift/move/manipulate up to 100 pounds.
• •Must be able to regularly see, talk, and hear.
• •Must have close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision.
• •Must be able to regularly use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• •Must be able to regularly reach with hands and arms.
• •Must be able to regularly steer, reach, and handle various materials or equipment.
• •Must be able to comply with company drug testing policies and procedures.
• •Must be able to comply with company Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies.
• •Must be able to wear clothing appropriate for the nature of OrePac business and the type of work being performed.
• •Must be able to wear a company shirt while performing the duties of this position.
• •Must be able to wear pants or shorts with no holes or patches while performing the duties of this position.
• •Must be able to report all incidents and accidents to one's immediate supervisor immediately or within 24 hours.
• •Must be able to maintain the work area in a safe and healthful condition.
• •Must be able to report, and whenever possible correct, unsafe working conditions to branch leadership.
• •Must be able to operate vehicles while in the course of employment in a safe and lawful manner.
• •Must be able to provide assistance to reduce or eliminate workplace hazards.
• •Must be able to comply with OrePac's established safety program and policies at all times.
• •Must be able to engage in safe work practices.
• •Must be able to tie down cargo safely and correctly for transportation.
• •Must be able to ensure that cargo is unloaded safely and securely, including ensuring proper weight distribution and securing with appropriate methods.
• •Must be able to ensure no product damage occurs to customer orders as well as next stop/future customer deliveries.
• •Must be able to interact with customers in a professional manner at delivery points, ensuring proper delivery procedures.
• •Must be able to perform thorough routine pre- and post-trip DOT inspections on the vehicle.
• •Must be able to perform routine basic maintenance tasks to ensure vehicle readiness, including but not limited to, checking fluid levels, lights, safety equipment, and tire pressure.
• •Must be able to communicate and collaborate with dispatch management to promptly report any maintenance issues or safety needs and ensure proper vehicle maintenance per DOT guidelines.
• •Must be able to regularly communicate with dispatch management for updates to delivery status, delays, or issues, and to receive instructions.
• •Must be able to promptly report any traffic violations, road accidents, and vehicle breakdowns to management.
• •Must be able to maintain accurate records of trips, including driver logs, mileage, delivery receipts/logs, inspection reports, customer signatures, and other relevant documentation.
• •Must be able to drive a tractor and trailer, curtain van, or flatbed to deliver building products to customers throughout the local area.
• •Must be able to safely operate vehicle in accordance with company policies, as well as DOT and other state and federal laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines.
• •Must be able to follow pre-planned routes and schedules to meet delivery deadlines while optimizing fuel efficiency.
• •Must be able to perform forklift duties if assigned, including staging and/or stacking material neatly and safely, operating the forklift in a safe manner, filling the forklift with propane fuel, and regularly checking the forklift fluid levels.
• •Must be able to take and pass a forklift training course and obtain a certificate if assigned forklift duties.
• •Must be able to drive in snow and chain up, depending on the time of year and weather.
• •Must be able to handle overnight runs during the week.
• •Must be able to maintain a clean and organized vehicle.

Desired Qualifications

• •At least 1 year of safe commercial driving experience (preferred).
