Job Summary

Commercial Transformation Architect role leading architecture for a major transformation programme in a retail-adjacent context. Responsibilities include defining current-state and target-state architectures, shaping technology strategy and roadmaps, guiding discovery, procurement, technology selection, and evaluation of vendor solutions. Lead architectural decisions to simplify legacy platforms and enable modernisation, partner with stakeholders to understand commercial priorities (product, pricing, range, assortment, forecasting, replenishment), establish architecture governance, and produce ADRs and architecture papers. Requires experience in enterprise/domain architecture, strong understanding of retail capabilities, ability to operate across complex transformation programmes, and proficiency in RFI/RFP processes, vendor evaluations, and translating technical concepts into business outcomes. Hybrid work arrangement with London office 1-2 days per week; initial contract term around six months outside IR35, with opportunities for professional development and collaboration in a global, agile, risk-aware environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Essential Experience: Proven experience architecting commercial transformation programmes.
  • Strong retail or adjacent industry experience.
  • Experience across commercial domains including: Product, Pricing, Range and assortment, Forecasting, Replenishment.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of commercial technology ecosystems and vendors.
  • Requirements: Enterprise Architecture or Domain Architecture experience.
  • Strong understanding of retail business capabilities and technology landscapes.
  • Experience working across complex transformation programmes.
  • Experience supporting procurement and technology selection processes: RFI, RFP, Technical assessments, Vendor evaluations.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to challenge vendors and drive informed decisions.
  • Comfortable working at both strategic and detailed technical levels.
  • Proactive, pragmatic, and delivery-focused approach.
