Commercial Tenant Accountant

Job Summary
Commercial Tenant Accountant responsible for managing all accounting functions for commercial tenant accounts and property, including rent, CAM, taxes, insurance, utilities, and other recoverable expenses; prepares monthly tenant invoices, records payments, tracks delinquencies, and ensures timely recoveries. Reviews leases to ensure accurate billing, handles security deposits, CAM reconciliations, and tenant bill-backs; performs accounts payable/receivable, month-end close, and prepares property- and tenant-level financial reports with variance analysis and budgeting support. Collaborates with merchant management to ensure lease terms are correctly applied and reconciled against financial records; maintains accurate ledgers, supports audits, and communicates financial results clearly to managers, tenants, and internal teams. Must be proficient in Excel and property-management/accounting systems (SAGE, Re-Leased, Yardi or similar), with a strong emphasis on accuracy, organization, and customer service.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience; commercial real estate or property management experience preferred
- Strong understanding of lease structures and tenant bill-back processes, including CAM, taxes, insurance, and utilities
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications; experience with property management and accounting systems preferred (SAGE, Re-Leased, Yardi or similar systems)
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and communicate results clearly and effectively
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenant accounts, properties, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, and tenants
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
