Job Summary
The Loan Assistant I role provides support to the company’s bankers by servicing, maintaining and updating loan documentation and loan files. It requires substantial interaction with new and current bank customers, both internal and external, and emphasizes exceptional customer service, proactive communication, and collaboration across departments. Responsibilities include coordinating preparation of required loan documentation, reviewing for compliance with documentation requirements, coordinating execution of loan documents, organizing workflow for loan renewal, following up for missing documents with clients, insurance agents, Title Company and/or attorney, resolving exceptions and deficiencies in line with Credit Policy, monitoring reports (past due, paid off loans, criticized assets, maturing loan lists), and providing proactive updates to bankers. The role may involve additional duties such as handling wires, NSF accounts, overdrafts, and, in certain markets, providing retail support for commercial customers (account opening/maintenance). Qualifications demand HS diploma/GED with strong reading, writing, and analytical abilities, basic understanding of loan documentation and banking regulations, and solid customer service and communication skills. Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma/GED required
- Prior loan experience preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to read, write, analyze and comprehend simple instructions, routine business correspondence, financial reports and/or legal documents
- Basic understanding of loan documentation, credit policy and banking regulation
- Basic understanding of HMDA, CRA and CRA Small Business Revenue
- In certain markets, basic understanding and communication ability of the bank’s retail services and processes
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Proactive communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in MS Office programs
- Familiarity with Lending Cycle, Argo, and Synergy (or similar systems)
