Job Summary
Lead and oversee daily operations of the estimating department, mentoring team members and establishing standards for accuracy and profitability. Prepare complete commercial roofing estimates using The Edge software, performing detailed quantity takeoffs from blueprints and specifications for production and re-roof projects. Review estimates before submission, solicit subcontractor pricing, and develop labor, material, and equipment costs. Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic bids, attend pre-bid meetings and site visits, and coordinate seamless handoffs to operations. Track bid success rates and drive continuous improvement within the team.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial roofing estimating experience
- Expert-level proficiency with The Edge Estimating Software
- Extensive experience estimating production and re-roof commercial roofing projects
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Strong financial, analytical, and organizational skills
- Proficient with Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids, deadlines, and team priorities in a fast-paced environment
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience leading or supervising an estimating team
- Metal Roofing
- Experience overseeing an estimating department for a commercial roofing contractor
- Knowledge of manufacturer specifications and commercial roofing assemblies
- Strong understanding of project costs, profitability, and value engineering
- Ability to build relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams
