Job Summary
Administer files from start to finish for commercial real estate transactions, including drafting, reviewing, and analyzing contracts of purchase and sale, easements, rights of way, and strata plan filings. Conduct title and due diligence searches, prepare acquisition loan and construction financing documents, and finalize reporting letters for closings. Draft statutory rights of ways, covenants, and easements while communicating with vendors, financial institutions, clients, and lawyers. Participate in client interviews, execute documents, and coordinate electronic meets with the Land Title Office.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of three years of paralegal experience covering all aspects of commercial real estate transactions
- Strong document production skills
- Proficiency in MS Word
- Proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency in Adobe
- Capability with preparing Land Title electronic forms
- Strong understanding of BC Land Title Office registration requirements
- Capability with e-filing including coordination of electronic meets
- Working knowledge of various applicable databases i.e. BC Online, LTSA, municipal tax searches, etc.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to communicate in a professional, mature, and courteous manner in a busy, fast paced practice
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments without sacrificing quality or attention to detail
- A team player who can work independently and take initiative
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with banking and lending transactions
- Familiarity with basic corporate and partnership legal matters
- Basic familiarity with working with various municipalities throughout British Columbia
- A certificate/diploma from an accredited paralegal program
