Commercial & Privacy Counsel

Job Summary
Partner with Product, Engineering, and commercial teams to draft, negotiate complex agreements including DPAs, MSAs, and SOWs, while providing proactive legal guidance on privacy, data protection, and consumer frameworks. Monitor emerging state, federal, and international privacy laws and AI regulations to translate them into actionable operational strategies, and streamline the commercial pipeline by responding to customer privacy questionnaires, security reviews, and due diligence inquiries. Design scalable internal legal templates and playbooks to accelerate deal velocity, leveraging modern AI tools to optimize contract review and drafting workflows within a lean team. This role operates full-time in-office in American Fork, Utah, requiring a Utah bar license and 4–6 years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited institution
- 4–6 years of relevant legal experience
- Active Utah bar license or qualification for a Utah limited in-house counsel license
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must possess an active Utah bar license or qualify for a Utah limited in-house counsel license

- Prior in-house experience within a high-growth technology environment
- Understanding of how to operate as a true collaborative partner to revenue and product teams
- Comfortable diving into technical architectural details and data flows alongside engineering teams

- Deep, practical knowledge of major privacy frameworks (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, GDPR)
- Proven track record of translating legal compliance into functional engineering requirements
- Extensive experience managing commercial technology agreements
- Sharp ability to find balanced, commercial solutions rather than just identifying legal risk
- Strong commercial acumen
- Exceptional capability to distill complex legal, regulatory, and technical concepts into clear, plain-language guidance for non-legal stakeholders
