Job Summary
On-site Project Engineer or Project Manager for a large-scale commercial/industrial plumbing contractor, working at a major Rock Hill, SC project (reporting to Matthews, NC). Responsible for budgeting and cost tracking, scheduling, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and overall project documentation from pricing through client approval; manage procurement and deliveries, verify permits and inspections, conduct regular site walks, coordinate with vendors and inspectors, and support staffing and field crews throughout kickoff-to-closeout. Requires interpretation of plans and specifications, with strong proficiency in construction drawings, financial data, and contract documents; 3+ years (Engineer track) or 2+ years (Manager track) experience in commercial mechanical or plumbing contracting; high school diploma required with bachelor's preferred; valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred
- Project Engineer track: minimum of 3 years with a commercial mechanical or plumbing contractor
- Project Manager track: 2+ years with a commercial mechanical or plumbing contractor, which must include prior time spent as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager
- Candidates with 5+ years of General Contracting experience paired with a PE or APM background will also be considered at the Project Manager level
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, financial data, and contract documents
- Strong skills in scheduling, cost tracking, and managing budgets against estimates
- Proficiency with computers and construction-related software platforms
- Valid driver's license with dependable transportation
- Experience with reviewing plans, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
- Coordination of deliveries, rentals, and material procurement
- Site walks and project meetings with stakeholders
- Communication between company, customers, vendors, and inspectors
