Job Summary
Review non-residential construction documents for compliance with the Ohio Building Code, Residential Code of Ohio, and referenced standards for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy conservation, and fuel gas systems. Safeguard public health, safety, and welfare before issuing building permits. Access records and files, assist in data entry and maintenance of plan review reports, and generate correction letters, conditional approvals, and adjudication orders. Communicate with the public during the plan review process and assist inspectors during construction phases regarding approved documents and code questions. Support the Chief Building Official with field investigations.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Ohio Building Code (OBC)
- Knowledge of the Residential Code of Ohio (RCO)
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy conservation, and fuel gas standards
- Ability to review non-residential construction documents
- Ability to access records/files/documents
- Ability to perform data entry, maintenance and retrieval of plan review reports
- Ability to generate plan review correction letters, conditional approvals, adjudication orders and other reports
- Ability to communicate with the public during plan review process
- Ability to assist inspectors during construction phases with information on approved documents/waivers received/code questions
- Ability to assist with field investigations
