Job Summary
Licensed architect or engineer to review commercial plan sets for IBC code compliance across egress, fire-resistance, accessibility, structural, and MEP disciplines. Senior-level candidates with 15+ years of commercial construction experience and robust QA/QC/permit review experience, or equally qualified municipal or third-party plan reviewers with 10+ years in commercial plan reviews and ICC/ Master Code Professional credentials. Responsibilities include detailed plan reviews for code compliance, identifying missing information, evaluating review comments, and providing concise written clarifications using a web-app interface. Requires comfort reviewing plans on screen, and holding licensure or credentialed certification (e.g., RA/PE/SE/FPE/CASp or ICC specialty certifications). Remote contract position in the United States with flexible hours.
Required Qualifications
- A licensed or credentialed specialist: RA, PE/SE, FPE, CASp, or ICC specialty certification (Accessibility, Fire, Structural, or Energy Plans Examiner; MCP).
- ICC Certified Building, Combination, or Fire Plans Examiner — or Master Code Professional (or equivalent).
- 10+ years of commercial experience, with 5+ years of commercial plan review at an AHJ or third-party review firm (SAFEbuilt, Interwest, Willdan, NV5, CSG, or similar).
- Plus CASp certification or CA/FL code experience (CBC, Title 24, FBC).
- Prior third-party or peer review work for jurisdictions.
