Commercial New Construction Estimator

Job Summary
The Commercial New Construction Estimator reviews project plans and specifications, prepares accurate HVAC estimates, and supports the bidding process for commercial and multifamily construction. Responsibilities include evaluating bid requests, maintaining a weekly bid board, ensuring pricing accuracy, analyzing project documents to identify pricing gaps, producing cost analyses for materials and equipment, developing vendor and subcontractor relationships, and assisting Business Development with procurement strategies and potential selling points. Requires strong HVAC estimating experience, the ability to read construction documents, and the capacity to manage multiple estimates in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of current industry trends and estimation software (GRDS Fast Duct) is highly valued.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical HVAC estimating/takeoffs or equivalent combination of education and training
- Must have experience reviewing light commercial and multifamily mechanical plans
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, specifications, bid forms, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
- Experience with estimating techniques and cost control
- Ability to perform detailed equipment & material take-offs
- Detail oriented and able to tackle multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
- Well versed in current industry trends
- Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary
- Knowledge of Estimation software on GRDS such as “Fast Duct“ & cross reference tools is strongly encouraged
