Job Summary
Estimate materials for home construction per company policy and local building codes. Assist sales staff with customer orders, materials lists, blueprint reading, and trim take-offs. Train sales representatives on estimating techniques and construction procedures. Review actual versus estimated materials upon project completion. Control expenditures to align with budgetary requirements. Work on the sales/hardware counter as assigned. Perform other duties as needed while adhering to safety policies and completing assigned trainings.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in engineering or related area
- 1-3 years construction and building materials related experience
- Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials
- Ability to interpret building plans in diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to operate networked computer systems and specialized software application programs
- Ability to instruct others in effective use of application software
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Positive interpersonal skills
- Understanding of measurements and basic math principles
