Job Summary
The Commercial Loan Officer role involves receiving, reviewing, evaluating, and underwriting commercial loan requests; meeting with applicants to explain credit policies and gather loan information and documentation; monitoring construction and development loans; assisting with collections; serving borrowers and prospective borrowers promptly; cross-selling bank products; and supporting business development and marketing of existing and prospective accounts. Responsibilities include interviewing applicants, processing preliminary loan documentation, discussing loan alternatives and criteria, ensuring compliance with Bank policies and legal requirements, analyzing loan requests and deciding on approvals within limits, coordinating with related parties to resolve issues, reviewing loan reports, collecting delinquent accounts, educating customers about bank products, meeting with denials to explain reasons and alternatives, and participating in training, meetings, and special projects. The role requires a high level of financial analysis, creditworthiness assessment, knowledge of lending policies, and strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Three to five years of commercial lending experience required
- Understanding of financial analysis and determination of credit worthiness required
- Knowledge of Bank lending and collections programs, policies, and procedures required
- Active license number with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry or the ability to obtain such
- Familiarity with property management and maintenance procedures preferred
- Strong interviewing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven track record of community/civic/trade organization involvement and business development
- Strong analytical skills
- Able to use financial calculator and related computer applications and business machines
