Job Summary
Underwrite Multifamily Commercial Lending projects, including 9% and 4% LIHTC transactions, assess creditworthiness, and structure bond-funded transactions under HUD 542(c) Risk Sharing and other programs. Present loans for approval to the CHFA Loan Committee/Board, coordinate closing processes, and communicate with borrowers, lenders, and production teams. Lead in CHFA Credit Policy changes, provide ongoing risk analysis of CHFA’s multifamily products, serve as a liaison to Asset Management, and participate in workshops and outreach on affordable housing matters. Maintain strong knowledge of real estate principles, tax credit programs, private activity bonds, and federal/state financing tools; demonstrate proficiency with financial analysis, underwriting models, and cross-functional collaboration. Travel 10-20% statewide and work in a hybrid office setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
- minimum four (4) years of work experience as a loan underwriter specializing in affordable housing multifamily loan underwriting or related fields
