Job Summary
Underwrite new and renewal commercial business by rating, quoting, and binding risks to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing. Build, maintain, and grow a book of business while managing agency relationships and serving as the lead client contact. Execute marketing plans to drive new business and retention, and submit referrals to company brokerage facilities and management. Monitor key metrics to formulate corrective actions impacting new business hit, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratio. Lead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters. Requires 3+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience, sales proficiency, and an insurance license. Competitive base compensation with an incentive bonus plan.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing
- Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detail
- Travel if necessary in order to foster strong client relationships
Desired Qualifications
- excess & surplus lines experience
- Insurance license, CPCU, CIC or comparable designations
- Interest in continued education and professional development
