Commercial Lines Field Production Underwriter - Illinois

Job Summary
Conduct regular in-person visits to assigned agencies in Illinois to grow the commercial property and casualty book of business, soliciting new account submissions and facilitating renewal strategies. Evaluate risks to make critical underwriting decisions on insurability, policy pricing, and terms, while developing a pipeline of profitable risks for review and quoting. Assist with risk control communications, train agency personnel on the C-Port portal, and secure facultative reinsurance when appropriate. Collaborate with renewal underwriters on challenging accounts and accompany loss control representatives on inspections. Travel up to 75% of the time with an acceptable MVR required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of commercial lines underwriting
- A thorough knowledge of commercial lines products and coverages
- Excellent communication, presentation and customer service skills
- Ability to travel on a consistent basis
- Acceptable MVR
- Travel expected up to 75%
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
- A CPCU designation and other supplemental insurance education are preferred
- Field Sales/Marketing experience preferred
