Job Summary
Commercial Lead role focused on developing and executing the company’s commercial strategy within the Shipping division. Responsibilities include conceiving and structuring new commercial ventures, building business cases and go-to-market models for new service lines, leading planning and execution for initiatives (e.g., ship management, training academies, new opportunities), driving market insight and strategic recommendations from global shipping and tanker market analysis, optimizing fleet earnings with chartering and analytics teams, engaging and negotiating with charterers, brokers, traders and strategic partners, and collaborating cross-functionally to align on commercial priorities, tools, dashboards, and performance metrics. Travel internationally as required. English proficiency and strong stakeholder management are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial roles within shipping, commodities, trading, finance, or corporate development.
- Strong understanding of shipping markets (tankers preferred), freight dynamics, and commercial drivers.
- Demonstrated ability to build businesses, not just manage existing ones.
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills; comfortable with financial models and market data.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building capabilities.
- Highly organised, structured, and able to manage a broad and evolving brief.
- Professional presence, polished communication, and strong stakeholder management.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Familiarity with commercial tools (Veson IMOS, Signal, Kpler, Vortexa) or willingness to learn.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
