Job Summary
Independent contractor Risk Control Inspectors conduct on-site surveys and prepare risk control reports to support underwriting for commercial insurance. The role involves scheduling site surveys, managing local assignments within roughly 45 miles of Houston, and delivering reports that identify hazards and recommend controls to mitigate loss for policyholders in commercial lines (Property, General Liability, Workers’ Comp, Auto/Fleet, Products Liability, Inland Marine, Builders Risk). Preferred experience spans commercial insurance, real estate, inspection, construction, claims, loss control, underwriting, and fire/safety, with an optional 15-hour online certification. Tools/resources include a digital camera/tablet, computer, printer, reliable internet, a vehicle, and measurement devices. Work can be performed from home or an office in the Houston area; most surveys are field-based with on-site visits to businesses such as retail, restaurants, hotels, apartments, construction sites, churches, and schools.
