Job Summary
Senior Commercial HVAC Technician responsible for diagnosis, service, repair, commissioning, and optimization of complex commercial HVAC systems including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, VAV, and VRF/VRV. May serve as technical lead on jobsites and mentor junior technicians and apprentices. Responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical and control systems, performing system balancing, interpreting blueprints and control sequences, conducting preventive maintenance, ensuring OSHA and EPA compliance, and communicating with property managers and building engineers to provide repair recommendations and preventive strategies. Requires strong problem-solving, leadership in the field, and the ability to work independently while delivering customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- EPA Universal Certification
- State HVAC license or equivalent (where required by jurisdiction)
- OSHA-10 preferred; OSHA-30 strongly preferred
- 7+ years of commercial HVAC service experience
- Experience mentoring or leading other technicians preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and control sequences
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and control diagrams
- Experience with chillers, boilers, RTUs, VAV, BAS, VRF/VRV
- Strong troubleshooting of electrical systems (single and three-phase)
- Proficiency with test instruments
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance and document compliance
- Excellent customer communication and leadership skills
- Compliance with OSHA/EPA safety standards
