Commercial Generator Field Technician (Gen Sets, LV/MV Electrical, Mechanical, Microgrid, Field Engineer)

Required Qualifications

• •Level II Technician
• •three years of field experience servicing generator systems
• •experience on 500kw+
• •proficient with preventative maintenance
• •retrofitting basic controls
• •minor ATS repairs
• •loadbanking equipment
• •High School diploma or GED equivalent
• •related military experience or equivalent field experience
• •Ability to perform triennial maintenance
• •engine diagnostics
• •fuel system priming
• •replacing failed engine components
• •Operational and functional understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems
• •troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction
• •Ability to read and decipher electronic schematics
• •troubleshoot discreet mechanical and electronic systems to the component level with guidance from our Product Support team
• •Experience with or ability to quickly learn advanced generator and electric system controls including Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment in an advanced electric controls environment
• •Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals and policies and procedures
• •Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts
• •Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• •Must observe all safety standards
• •Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
• •Able to express commitment to PSS, its customers, and its employees
• •Process oriented, with demonstrated attention to detail
• •Delivering on-time results to support PSS's business goals

• •Must be willing to travel out of market/state up to 25% of the time
• •Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background check, drug testing and MVR clearance
• •Must be willing and able to attend training as company deems necessary
• •Own and maintain personal set of mechanical tools
• •Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to Protective Glasses, Protective Gloves, and Protective Footwear as required
• •Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• •Must be able to read computer screens, paper documents, equipment
• •Ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals
• •Up to 10 consecutive hours driving heavy duty truck
• •Must be able to work long and unpredictable hours
• •Must be able to communicate orally and hear others speaking
• •Must be willing to work in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
• •Must be willing to work in varied environments since the performance of the essential duties is at customer sites
• •Must be willing to work in adverse environmental conditions such as temperature and noise extremes, vibrations, machinery, hazardous materials, confined spaces, traffic hazards, and various chemicals
• •Must be able to perform moderately physically demanding work
• •May involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-75 pounds)
• •Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit
• •Occasionally required to use hands, to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms
• •Combination of climbing and balancing to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
