Job Summary
Commercial Estimator at Builders FirstSource analyzes complex blueprints and documentation to develop materials lists and cost estimates for bids, resolving issues with project teams and customers. Uses estimating software to determine material quantities, assess pricing, substitutions, and availability; maintains up-to-date pricing data; assists sales with materials information; conducts vendor discussions and prepares estimates used for bids and cost analysis. The role involves collaborating with clients, vendors, and internal teams to advise on construction costs, optimize use of stock materials, and support project profitability. No supervisory responsibilities; requires ability to read blueprints, interpret documents, and communicate effectively; physical work environment includes office and outdoor settings.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in construction technology from two-year college or technical school (preferred)
- 2-3 years experience within the building construction industry
