Job Summary
Manage all day-to-day field operations for assigned ground-up commercial construction projects, directing and supervising subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure work is completed safely and according to specifications. Develop and maintain the master construction schedule while conducting daily site walks to monitor progress, quality control, and overall site conditions. Coordinate all phases from mobilization through closeout, ensuring strict compliance with OSHA regulations and local building requirements. Lead subcontractor coordination meetings, review drawings and documentation, and maintain accurate daily reports on manpower and milestones. Monitor subcontractor productivity and collaborate with project managers to manage budgets and change orders. Ensure punch list completion and oversee final turnover to the client.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience serving as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing ground-up commercial construction projects from start to finish
- Strong understanding of structural, civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and technical documents
- Proven leadership experience managing multiple subcontractors and coordinating complex project schedules
- Excellent knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and jobsite safety best practices
- Experience maintaining detailed project documentation including daily logs, safety reports, inspections, RFIs, and punch lists
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience with high-end retail, luxury retail, hospitality, mixed-use, or similarly high-quality commercial projects is highly preferred
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms is preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
- Experience working within occupied facilities or active retail environments is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent field experience will be considered
- OSHA 30 Certification is strongly preferred
- Current CPR/First Aid certification is considered a plus
- Candidates residing within a reasonable commuting distance (approximately 25 miles) of the Costa Mesa area are strongly preferred due to the daily onsite nature of the position
