Commercial Claims Adjuster II

Job Summary
Handle all aspects of investigation and settlement of assigned commercial claims, including interviewing parties, reviewing estimates, determining liability, and negotiating settlements. Calculate and pay benefits promptly while proactively managing claim costs and outside vendor activity. Analyze case facts to establish reserves and identify fraud, ensuring timely compliance with management directives. Monitor claim file diaries to create written action plans facilitating quick resolution. Interact regularly with agents, brokers, and underwriting departments to support prompt coverage decisions. Work a hybrid schedule in Raleigh (two days in office, three days remote) with a 37.5-hour workweek. Maintain professional knowledge through Builders Mutual sponsored training.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial claims handling experience
- NC Adjuster License or reciprocal state license
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Understanding of coverage
- Ability to analyze and interpret contracts and coverage forms
- Proficient in the use of MS Office software
- Knowledge of policy processing systems
- Knowledge of imaging systems
- Ability to work in Raleigh office a minimum of two days
- Ability to work from home the remaining three days
Desired Qualifications
- Experience handling minor to complex general liability and commercial auto claims in the residential/commercial construction industry
- Additional licenses and experience in our footprint
- BA/BS Degree
- Equivalent combination of education and claims experience
- Pursuit of, or ability to pursue, AIC, ARM, or CPCU certification
- Working knowledge of a claims management system
