Job Summary
Commercial Building Engineer responsible for preventive maintenance and operation of HVAC, BAS/EMS, electrical, plumbing systems in commercial properties in Stamford, CT; participate in rotating on-call after-hours emergency response; perform inspections, troubleshoot and repair building systems, read blueprints and schematics, maintain logs, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while coordinating with supervisors, vendors, tenants, and ownership representatives.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in commercial building maintenance, facilities maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, or related trades
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot building equipment and perform preventative maintenance independently
- Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Energy Management Systems preferred
- Basic knowledge of local, state, and national building and mechanical codes
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
- Ability to read blueprints and schematic diagrams
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies when required
- Occasional evenings, weekends, or holiday coverage may be required based on operational needs
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Relevant trade licenses or certifications are a plus
