Job Summary
Conduct field inspections of commercial and industrial properties to verify physical features, property uses, and post-sale conditions while coordinating with personal property deputies. Facilitate the appeals process by meeting taxpayers, researching real estate comparisons, analyzing cost data, and calculating income streams to negotiate settlements or present findings before the Property Tax Board of Appeals. Assist taxpayers with assessment and sale information via in-person visits, phone, and email correspondence. Review permits, blueprints, and local market studies to ensure compliance with state standards and new tax laws. Calibrate new construction into the County's CAMA system and validate sales for assigned townships.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three years of experience determining value
- Three years of experience managing appeals
- Three years of experience assessing commercial field inspections
- Three years of experience analyzing financial statements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Level III Indiana Assessor-Appraiser within two years of employment
- Valid Driver's License
- Extensive knowledge, understanding and practical application of the three approaches to determining value (cost, sales comparison, and income)
- Ability to read and comprehend of Indiana Tax Court decisions
- Ability to read and comprehend of Indiana Code
- Ability to read and comprehend of International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) standards
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and reconstruct detailed financial statements
- Strong organization, presentation, and planning skills
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use CAMA
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use GIS
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use ACCELA
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use Arcpro
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use Eagleview
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use Laredo

- Strong computer skills with the ability to use LOW
- Possesses an understanding of a full range of appraisal practices in an ever-changing real estate market
