Job Summary
Troubleshoot, repair, and modify commercial food service equipment including ovens, fryers, grills, and dishwashers for restaurants, bars, and retailers. Perform installation, startup, and calibration on new and used machinery while reading technical drawings and schematics to diagnose complex issues. Maintain inventory of replacement parts, order supplies, and utilize a computerized system to record work progress and history. Collect payment for services and direct funds to appropriate personnel. Safely operate a company vehicle, power tools, and equipment while traveling between job sites approximately 75% of the time. Work a non-standard schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional emergency on-call rotations.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years experience servicing/repairing commercial cooking equipment
- Demonstrated knowledge of AD/DC circuits and use of a multimeter
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid class D driver's license and commercial insurability
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, mechanical, and analytical skills
- Strong electrical aptitude with knowledge of and ability to be proficient with AC/DC circuits
- Knowledge and understanding of commercial food service equipment
- Ability to perform effectively in a high stress, fast paced environment
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work tasks
- Ability to use a multimeter
- Ability to use power and hand tools
- Ability to use thermometers, pressure gauges, and other testing devices
- Ability to run piping and PVC
- Ability to read and interpret operation and repair manuals, schematics, and mechanical blueprints
- Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn computer programs
- Ability to travel between job sites and work locations 75% of the time
- Ability to work a non-standard schedule including occasional voluntary emergency on-call, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must be able to maintain a stationary position for 2-4 hours while traveling between jobsites
- Continually required to walk inside and outside jobsites and other work locations
- Frequently operates a commercial vehicle, power tools, and a mobile device
- Occasionally operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds, occasionally 75+ pounds
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts
- Frequently exposed to loud noise and vibration consistent with use of power tools and equipment
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions
- Must be able to exchange accurate information through oral and written communication and make fine discriminations in sound
- Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Able to observe details at close range, distance range, peripherally and with the ability to adjust focus
- Frequently utilizes visual acuity to operate vehicles, power tools & equipment and read technical information
