Commercial Accountant (AU) - Work From Home | Day shift

Job Summary
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial processes across all group entities, including balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger management. Maintain accruals, prepayments, journal entries, and the fixed asset register. Manage end-to-end AASB 16 lease accounting and partner with leasing teams for venue renewals and variations. Own venue budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis while acting as a finance business partner to lead P&L reviews and performance reporting. Oversee insurance programs, banking relationships, and claims management. Deliver month-end close activities and support annual audits and sustainability reporting. Prepare ad hoc commercial analysis and contribute to system improvements. Work from home, Mon - Fri 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM AEST. CA or CPA qualification required with 2+ years experience.
Required Qualifications
- CA or CPA qualified (or nearing completion)
- 2+ years' post-qualification experience in financial or management accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
- Experience with AASB 16 lease accounting and multi-entity/consolidated reporting
- Strong systems capability and interest in leveraging AI and automation to improve finance processes and insights
- Advanced Excel skills
- experience with Xero, Microsoft Business Central, or similar ERP/accounting systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with operational and external stakeholders
- Proactive, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
Desired Qualifications
- Retail, hospitality, franchise, or other multi-site industry experience preferred
- experience with Xero, Microsoft Business Central, or similar ERP/accounting systems highly regarded
